This Arabic website seems to enjoy my design. Am I supposed to be flattered? I guess, this officially welcomes me to the world of blogging.
Hello Darren,
yes, that is rather strange. More so probably, because it’s a primer for me. I guess this might not be worth losing hair over, though I could do with a haircut. :)
Sorry to hear this is happening to you. It is a wonderful design I can see why someone would be tempted to take it. You really did a wonderful design for your site
I second Dan Novak… This really is an elegant, refreshing and well thought design. Thumbs-up for you. As to the Arab copy-cat, it only shows the lack of talent and brains on their part. For me, a newbie to the world wide web, your site is an inspiration!
Oh My Gosh that is hilarious. BTW how did you find that? I love to be able to see if some has stolen my site. Thanks.
There’s an easy, albeit somewhat distasteful, solution to this: Simply duplicate & rename all of your current site’s images (and modify the CSS accordingly) and replace the old images with porn…
I’m sure it’ll get the point across.
To Kory: Please leave the Prophet of the muslims out of this. Haven’t you heard the news of what has happened in the past (recent past at that) everytime someone takes anything related to certain issues and tries to turn it into a joke? ie.: Karl Lagerfeld in a design worn by Claudia Schiffer?… The German newspaper and the caricatures that regretably decided to publish?… Just to name a couple. Whoever you are wake-up we are living in very dangerous times! and with this kind of comment you can get yourself and the owner of this site in trouble. Haven’t we learned any lessons yet?
Hi Kory,
while I would not have any problems with this approach per se, I - like Maria mentioned - am not comfortable in taking such a personally insulting step because - after all - the person in question (whoever he or she is) probably didn’t mean to be disrespectful, eventhough he/she certainly has due to the rip. But perhaps he/she is learning and uses the design or CSS as a guidance of some sort. It still doesn’t justify just ripping someone else’s design but ridiculing is also not a means I’d choose. The alternative, as you also mentioned here, is to just change my logo (which was recommended by someone else) and turn that into a phrase like “don’t steal my design” or something down those lines.
You could take the image idea to a lesser degree and duplicate the background to say “Please don’t steal my site"… over and over and over again. :)
Or you could just prevent hotlinking with an .htaccess file.
but...but.... looks like you ripped it off from this guy! lol

I ripped it from myself? Errr, very funny.
The gallery entry on unmatchedstyle IS my design. And I’m not a guy.
i think the guy on that site is just not as smart about it; usually people upload a screenshot of a site to talk about. i believe that rip is an article, not really a rip. those ads woouldn’t be on a normal portfolio....script kiddies are having kids now? omg…
I’ve seen this before with Chinese sites. He/She didn’t rip you off, they’ve just captured the site and translated - that’s why your links are still there.
Report em to http://www.ripperhunting.com/ after their reboot. I hate when things like this happen >_< (btw great site you’ve made - came across it today!)

Check out the top navigation—it still contains absolute links to your site! And they didn’t even omit the Dotkraft logo. What the hell.
